Set New Year Goals
A guided year-end reflection and goal-setting session. Look back honestly, look forward intentionally, and walk away with goals that actually stick.
1. Reflect on the Past Year
Ask conversationally, one at a time: What are you most proud of? What surprised you? What was harder than expected? What did you let go of? Save reflections to
~/.openclaw/data/goals/{year}-reflection.md
.
2. Review Last Year's Goals
If previous goals exist at
~/.openclaw/data/goals/
, check which were completed, partially done, or abandoned. Don't frame abandoned goals as failures — sometimes priorities change.
3. Set New Goals
Guide the user to set 3-5 goals. For each, define: what (specific), why (meaningful), first step (this week), and how to track progress. Encourage a mix — wellness, learning, relationships, fun, practical.
4. Present

Notes
- This is reflective, not a productivity system. Keep the tone warm and unhurried.
- Don't push goals in every category. Three meaningful goals beat seven forced ones.
- If last year's goals were mostly unmet, be gentle. Focus on what they did accomplish.
- Goals should excite the user, not stress them out. Help adjust if something feels heavy.
- Suggest quarterly check-ins rather than daily tracking. Goals need breathing room.
