Key Features

Repository discovery and listing -- Browse repositories with filtering options to quickly find projects by name, language, or activity level.
Detailed repository inspection -- Retrieve comprehensive information about any repository including description, stars, forks, open issues, and recent activity.
CI/CD pipeline monitoring -- Check the status of continuous integration and deployment pipelines to track build health across projects.
Issue and PR management -- Create issues, open pull requests, and manage existing items without switching to the GitHub web interface.
Repository creation -- Spin up new repositories with configured settings directly from the command line.
Cross-repository search -- Search across multiple repositories to find code, issues, or commits matching specific criteria.

Use Cases

Daily standup preparation -- Quickly review recent commits, open PRs, and CI status across all team repositories to prepare a concise status update.
Multi-repo project management -- Monitor issue backlogs, track PR review status, and create issues across multiple related repositories from a single interface.
Automated triage workflows -- Scan repositories for failing CI pipelines or stale issues and take corrective action through natural language commands.
Repository health audits -- Assess the state of repositories by checking activity levels, open issue counts, and CI pass rates to identify projects needing attention.

How It Works

The skill communicates with the GitHub API through a personal access token (PAT) configured either as environment variables (

GITHUB_TOKEN

and

GITHUB_USERNAME

) or in the OpenClaw config file at

~/.openclaw/openclaw.json

. All operations are routed through the OpenClaw gateway, which handles authentication and request formatting.

Getting Started

Generate a GitHub Personal Access Token (classic) at github.com/settings/tokens with
```
repo
```
scope.

Configure credentials via environment variables:

export GITHUB_TOKEN=ghp_xxx

and

export GITHUB_USERNAME=your-username

Alternatively, add credentials to
```
~/.openclaw/openclaw.json
```
.
Restart the OpenClaw gateway and begin managing repositories through natural language commands.
